Sri Lanka Association for Dramatherapists will be organizing this single day event, with three workshops, under the theme "Social Cohesion and Reconciliation". As the Sri Lankan population had an overwhelming traumatic experience last Easter Sunday, the workshops will focus in exploring the perceived aspects of the 'Self' and the 'Other', and exploring the shadows that turned to be hindrances in moving forward within a multifaceted social fabric. Dr. Ravindra Ranasinha, dramatherapist, will deliver the Key note address on this day. Dramatherapist Tehani Chitty, Theatre practitioner Viranthi Cooray, and Psychiatrist Dr. Nishanthi Dolage will guide the participants through their journey of self-exploration. Further, the members of the Sri Lanka Association for Dramatherapists will celebrate the International Dramatherapy Week, in different locations of the country, during the period of 21st to 27th October 2019.

Drama Therapy Gathering in the Conversations and Reflections on the Arts, Creativity and Global Crisis Conference 2019

October 25th, 2019 9:00 - 10:30 AM
The title of this event is also the theme for an Arts Therapies conference held in New York in October. We hope to invite a few Drama Therapists who attended to feed back on the event and also to use this as a springboard for discussion around our thoughts of addressing the mental health crisis in South Africa with a collective and creative response. As a Drama Therapy community, we also want to continue our efforts to address identity, otherness and what is possible in transformation within our culture as South African Drama Therapists.
